Housing in Millidgeville/Cedar Point is mostly single detached homes, but apartment buildings and townhouses are common too. Most housing was built from the 1960s on. The subdivision of Millidgeville—named after the shipbuilding Millidge family—is built on land that was once the original airport of Saint John from 1928-1951.

Residents of this largely suburban community have access to a surprising amount of amenities—though many do require a vehicle. A yacht club and marina, schools, small retail areas, restaurants and nature trails are a short drive (or walk) away, depending on where you live. The knowledge industry is rich here, with the UNB Saint John Campus, Saint John Regional Hospital, and Tucker Park Campus housing Dalhousie University NB Medical School (DalMed) and the New Brunswick Community College Gerald S. Merrithew Allied Health Education Centre are all nearby.

The most famous visitor to the community was Amelia Earhart who flew into Saint John on May 19, 1932—preceding her solo flight across the Atlantic.
